While we were traveling in Southeast Asia, Vietnam was one of our favorite destinations. Nha Trang, on the south central coast, was a fun destination with a variety of activities.
Nha Trang is primarily known as a beach destination. We visited in late September, not long before the rainy season, so we did not enjoy great weather.
We enjoyed visiting a fishing village on Hon Mieu Island. There was also an aquarium! It was unexpected in this area (mainly the large pirate ship theme and other fun details) and I would not go out of my way to see it again, but it always an interesting insight to see some of the attractions around the world.
Another popular pastime is snorkeling. We highly recommend trying this out if you visit Nha Trang.
When you need some rest, it is also a great place to unwind and enjoy the views (even if they are slightly cloudy).
Nha Trang boasts historic sights as well, including Po Nagar temple. This Cham temple was founded sometime before 781.
One of our favorite parts of the visit to Nha Trang was the mud baths. The Thap Ba Hot Spring Center is definitely worth a visit! We soaked in the mineral mud (which treats disease, according to the sign), soak in the hot spring water and got a massage. You could not ask for a more relaxing outing.
As you would expect on the coast, Nha Trang is home to some delicious seafood. Fortunately, your choices are on display so you can choose what you like (and avoid what you don’t).
